So I vent through the main fill hole? The hinge part of the cap is raised some on the very bottom which suggests that there should be some kind of path underneath it and between the screw holes. When I lined the tank I don't recall any passage there, just the two screw holes and the main fill hole. All of this looks good but as you can see from the pics I don't have any vent path that Mike spoke about. This appears to let air into the key cylinder orifice I think and then there's the notch/cut away on the cap itself. I did take the cap apart, discovered that underneath the latch/gasket piece there was a small hole at the base. The flow never stopped and I wouldn't think that even at wide open throttle it would use fuel at the same rate with the filler cap open.
